Who we are

Jacob Caplinger is a dedicated scholar and cultural thinker with a Bachelor of Arts in Biblical & Theological Studies, a Master of Arts in Christian Thought & Biblical Studies, and ongoing studies toward a Master of Arts in Philosophy. His academic background informs his unique approach to theology, philosophy, and psychology—not as isolated disciplines, but as lenses for understanding the deeper currents of everyday life.

Caplinger created Thinking Cap as a space for exploring how culture speaks—often more loudly and profoundly than we realize. Whether through a haunting lyric, a film’s subtle symbolism, or the emotional resonance of a video game scene, he believes stories are never just stories. They reveal truths—about God, about the human condition, and about ourselves.

This blog serves as a home for those insights. Some entries delve into the symbolic layers of popular media; others engage in philosophical reflection sparked by anime arcs, pop music, or overlooked moments in storytelling. Visitors can expect theological musings, psychological reflections, and the occasional personal essay—all united by a commitment to meaningful inquiry.

If you believe that art and entertainment are more than escapism—that they’re windows into deeper truths—then you’ve found the right place. Thinking Cap invites you to look closer, question deeper, and never apologize for thinking too much.
